(Meme) The Mailbox Post (July 30th to August 4th)

Mailbox Monday is a gathering place for readers to share the books that came into their house last week and explore great book blogs. Warning: Mailbox Monday can lead to envy, toppling TBR piles and humongous wish lists.

Mailbox Monday is originally hosted by Marcia  . In the summer of 2010 Marcia decided she needed a change in hosting and didn't want to rely on one blogger alone to do it because its a lot of work so she decided to put Mailbox Monday on tour and so far with great success it has made monthly stops at more then a dozen blogs and this year is booked until the end.

The host for August is Jennifer from 5 Minutes With Books . This is a new to me blogger and I am super excited to check this blog out.

My fellow Montreal blogger, Tynga is  doing a mailbox post called:

Tynga's Reviews is hosting this meme and you can check out this link to find out more about it .

I am late in getting this up because I just got back from vacation. We went to Lake George, NY for the week. It was so much fun. We got to see some many of the great sites around Lake George, Queensbury and Saratoga Springs. I have some posts coming up this week that will be US vacation related.

While I was away my neighbor picked up the mail for me and this is what was waiting for me when I got home. So many great packages that I couldn't wait to dig into them.

The box behind the pile of packages is Michael's school supplies that was delivered while we were away. Hard to believe there is only three weeks left before school starts again.

The little white envelope was for Michael and it contained lego pieces that were missing from a two kits we recently bought.

This is what was inside those lovely packages.

-Rift by Andrea Cremer (a finished copy) showed up from Penguin. I am on a blog tour for this.

-Feathermore by Lucy Swing. Lucy graciously sent me a signed copy of her first book. Which I loved and I will reviewing her second book next week. I am on her blog tour.

The other packages came  from  James from Book Chic (I have been following James blog from the beginning of my blogging and finally got to meet him at BEA this year). When I saw that James had a bunch of duplicates I quickly emailed him to find out if it was possible to get them if I paid for shipping and he graciously accepted my request. I was so thrilled because a majority of them were books that were being given out at BEA that I missed out on.

Here is what I got from James:
(Finished copies)
-Counting Backwards by Laura Lascarso
-A Farewell to Charms by Lindsey Leavitt (book three in the series)

(ARC's)
-Don't Turn Around by Michelle Gagnon (this is her debut YA novel coming out 9/12)
-Black City by Elizabeth Richards (this is her debut YA novel coming out 11/12)
-Venom by Fiona Paul (this is her debut novel coming out 10/12)
-burn for burn by Jenny Jan and Siobhan Vivan (coming out 9/12) I missed out on the signing and was so bummed. The line was huge and I quickly ran over to S&S to see if I could get a copy and was told there was nothing left.
-Falling Kingdom by Morgan Rhodes (this is a series debut coming out Dec/12.)
-The Innocents by Lili Peloquin (this is her debut novel coming out Oct/12)

Thanks once again James I really appreciate the books and the swag you sent. Thank You :)

While I was in Lake George we drove about 30 minutes to go to Saratoga Springs because that was the closest Barnes & Noble there was in Lake George. I always try to go to BN when I am in the US although funny enough I never seem to go to BN when I am in NYC.
The first place I always head to when I am in BN is the magazine section but that could be because its right by the doors as you enter. So Michael grabbed the Phineas & Ferb magazine and I grabbed Clean Eating (I love this magazine), RT Book Reviews (I saw this and decided to pick it up. Not sure if we get this in Canada or not but I would be interested in finding out) and finally PW, (Publisher's Weekly) is one of my favorite magazines that I discovered through BEA. So whenever I am in the US I always try to nab a copy to read and pass on to Tina. I ended up being able to subscribe monthly to PW through my iPad and really like it.

Michael ended up picking up Lego City Build This City! and as we were walking by the bargain books we spotted The Brick Bible and its all done with Lego so Michael asked if he could get this and it was just too cute to pass up.
I went into BN with a list of books only to find out that a good chunk of my list was books that weren't in paper back yet or they didn't have them so needless to say I ended up wandering around and picked up a few other books that I heard about that sounded good.

The one book I was thrilled to get was a finished copy of The Land of Stories by Chris Colfer. The book is absolutely gorgeous. I loved the story and I knew once I heard Chris speak and talk about the maps that this would be the one book I would buy a finished copy of.

-Circle of Silence by Carol M. Tanzman ( I read her first book dancergirl and loved it so I was happy to see this one was in paperback)
-Beauty by Lisa Daily (I didn't realize that this was a 2012 debut novel)
-Where I belong by Gwendolyn Heasley (this takes place in NYC how could I not buy this?)
-A Long Way From You by Gwendolyn Heasley (book two in the series and it takes place in NYC too)
-Times Squared by Julia Devillers & Jennifer Roy (takes place in NYC, does anyone know if this is a series? I saw two other books listed and wonder if I can read as it is?)
While we were on vacation we went into Walmart and I picked up Big nate fun blaster for Michael so that he would have something to do while we were in restaurants and I picked up The Siren by Tiffany Reisz because it came highly recommended by a friend.

Just before leaving I borrowed bump by Megan McCafferty. I have been hearing good things about the book and was hoping to read it while I was on vacation but sadly didn't get to it.

I also got my July Glossybox so check back this week to find out what I got and what I thought of the box.
So that is all the came to my mailbox this week. I hope everyone has a good weekend.

Happy Summer vacation to all the kiddies out there.
